i'm megan, owner of opal & oak events. it's so nice to meet you!

I am an east coast girl who grew up in the maritimes and made my cross-country move to red deer, alberta, in 2012. here, I met the love of my life, steven, and we got married in august 2019, on the fourth anniversary of our very first date. together we have our dog, oakley (the "oak" of opal & oak) and in 2022, we welcomed our son jaxon to our family. when I'm not spending time with my family, you can find me with a cup of coffee in hand, my nose in a book, or an earbud in listening to a true crime podcast.

I have always had a creative side, and have always enjoyed planning small events such as birthday parties and baby showers, but it wasn't until I began planning my own wedding that I discovered my passion for the art. I am always happiest when the people around me are enjoying themselves and having a good time, without a care in the world. I decided to pursue that passion, and became a certified wedding and event coordinator with the wedding planner's institute of canada in 2020, and thus, opal & oak events was born!
